Back in Action?

Okay, so I pretty much completely forgot about this site but, because of seeing some other blogs, I think I'm going to get it up and running again. There's been lots and lots of theatre stuff happening over the last four years or so, so I'm going to try back tracking and bringing you up to date. So, stay tuned... lots and lots more to come!

Cumberland

Hey everyone!

Sorry it has been ages since I've been on here - things were pretty hectic over the winter. Plus my Internet crashed at home, so I rarely have had the opportunity to post other than here at work. But I intend on getting a new computer and high speed this summer, so hopefully with that and more time on my hands I'll be able to do some major posting!

Things are slowly winding down here. I have a week left. I'm starting to pack this weekend - yipee!! All in all, it has been a great year, but I'm in much need of the summer break.

I'm going to post some pics from our performance of "Cumberland" at the provincial drama festival in Grand Falls back in May. These pics were taken by a reporter by the name of Jenn Pelley, who also wrote the article about us for "The Advertiser."

Hope you enjoy, and I hope everyone is doing well... Please check back in the weeks to come over summer... Later...

J

The Opening...

Pushing the envelope...

"Fixing" him by way of conforming...

Ahhh.... the trees!....

The bribe....

"You're surprised I'm pissed?!..."

"'m not gonna hurt you..."

The look of love...

"I do care about you!"

"I don't think it has to be like this..."

Snowfamily and Newspapers

Hello again everyone. I just sifted through a few more pics from earlier in the year on the computer here at school. They aren't overly exciting, but it's something I guess.

Things have been EXTREMELY busy with drama and all my courses. Just trying to get everything completed by June is a feat in itself. Stress has become a regular part of life. Thankfully we had a snow day yesterday and I got to catch up on some sleep.

I was suppose to go to Corner Brook with my students (grades 8, 9) this weekend for the annual Bridge Building Competition, but it looks like the weather isn't going to be great, so we had to cancel. I know the kids are going to be dissapointed, but it looks like we are still going to be able to test their bridges later in the year, they just won't be part of the competition. Too bad, but safety on the roads is WAY more important, especially where children are involved.

OK, here are the pics. Hope you enjoy.

Above: from left to right, Nathan, Cheyenne, Alex, and Stephen working in the newsroom!! They are such great kids!!

Above and Below: Our Snowfamily! We made this back in January. They have since been buried... Notice the little doggie to the right... Very creative kids!

Above: Group shot in early Fall. This is ELA class.

Hi there! You've reached the personal blog of Jordan Stringer. This site is about everything from theatre and fine arts to teaching and politics. I will try to update as often as I can, but please keep in mind I make no promises as to how often that will be.

But first, please allow me tell you a little about myself. I am 24 years old, and I was born and raised in Little Heart's Ease, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland, Canada. In 1999 I graduated high school from Southwest Arm Academy. I am a teacher and, in fact, this is my very first year teaching! I just completed 6 years of university with Sir Wilfred Grenfell College and Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) in which I gained a BFA in theatre, a BA in English, and a BEd, which qualifies me to teach jr. and sr. high school in Newfoundland and Labrador. I am currently employed by the Western School District as an intermediate teacher at St. Joseph's All Grade school in Croque.

My interests are plentiful and my opinions are strong. Since about the age of 12 I have been fascinated by and very active in theatre and the arts and fine arts. I love everything about theatre, and within the last couple years have been trying my hand at directing. I also love to write poetry and have even made a few attempts at writing plays! But to be perfectly honest, I don't have the needed time to commit to those passions right now as teaching is more than a full-time job.

I am also very interested in current world affairs, especially politics. My TV is set to CBC at all times. No bones about it, I am a socialist. If you don't like that, you are in the wrong place.

I also have very strong opinions about religion. I am a self-proclaimed agnostic, which some people think means I have no faith. I disagree. Basically, I believe in humanity and the compassion of people. In the words of Sartre, "man is nothing else but what he makes of himself." I believe in people. I am a humanitarian. Hence, I am a socialist. My beliefs go hand-in-hand.

If any of this seems to interest (or upset you), than drop around every now and again and don't hesitate to get in touch. I am always open to meeting new people and, of course, keeping touch with my old friends and, of course, family.
